Why work with ISA Members

The ISA Advantage

We pride ourselves on a strong national network of appraisers who draw on highly specialized knowledge, skill, and experience, serving as a resource to our fellow members in a spirit which is unparalleled. Our members include many of the country’s most respected appraisers, consultants, curators, scholars, gallerists, estate liquidators, auctioneers, and dealers.

Advancing Excellence

The ISA’s Canadian members have successfully completed comprehensive training in the valuation of personal property and prepare appraisal reports that comply with the Report Writing Standard and Code of Ethics of the International Society of Appraisers and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) of the Appraisal Foundation – the primary valuation standard setting and qualifications body for personal property appraisals.

Choosing an ISA member for appraising services ensures unbiased and thoughtful opinions of value upon which you can base your financial decisions. Our qualified appraiser’s value conclusions are based on prescribed methods of evaluation, research, and report writing standards. An ISA-educated appraiser is well equipped to give you an accurate and complete appraisal that is accepted by all professional advisors. Not only do ISA member appraisers have credibility, they must maintain their training and continuously update their professional development skills to maintain their ISA membership and their status as a qualified appraiser.

The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) is the Congressionally authorized ethical and performance standards for the appraisal profession in the United States. USPAP is updated every two years to provide appraisers with information they need to deliver unbiased and thoughtful opinions of value. This is the standard used by members of the Canadian Chapter of the ISA and is recognized by the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board (CCPERB) and the Canada Revenue Agency.
