Helen Delacretaz, Museum Consultant & Appraiser

An accomplished senior museum leader, Helen holds over 20 years of museological expertise in curation, collection management, collection acquisitions, and exhibition development and production. Her areas of expertise lie with fine art, decorative arts and contemporary fine craft. She has experience appraising Canadian, Indigenous (including Inuit), International and Islamic art. Helen works with museums, art galleries, collectors and corporations providing professional assistance with Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board and Charitable donation appraisals, insurance and estate appraisals, collections management and curation. She hold Masters degrees in Fine & Decorative Arts (Sotheby’s Institute, London) and Art History, Islamic Art (University of Victoria, British Columbia). Formerly, she was Director, Exhibitions for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada), one of Canada’s national museums. Before joining the CMHR in September 2014, Helen was Chief Curator at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. Helen established her own museum consulting and appraisal business in 2014 and this became her full-time passion upon returning home to Vancouver Island in 2022.
